[Korea travel] The light houses in Busan

"Special moments with Busan's lighthouses and beautiful seascapes" - Busan's lighthouses offer special moments against the backdrop of beautiful seascapes. In this blog, we will introduce the lighthouses of Busan and experience the special moments with their attractive scenery.

# Woljeon Port Breakwater Lighthouse

The Woljeon Port Breakwater Lighthouse, made of concrete and shaped like a square, lit up for the first time in 2009. The road leading to the actual lighthouse continues its reputation with the smell of grilled eels. Woljeon Port is small, but it is a port famous for its live fish market. The Woljeon Port breakwater lighthouse blinks red light once every 4 seconds like a red rectangular lighthouse. The lighthouse has an observation deck. The observatory is on the first floor, and you can go up to the second floor by taking the iron stairs. It is also an excellent course for contemplation where you can quietly view the sea through the lighthouse window.

# Yeongdo Lighthouse

Yeongdo Lighthouse, built in 1906, is the first manned lighthouse in Busan. Installed at the southeast end of Taejongdae Park, it has served as a guide for safe navigation of ships sailing in Busan Port and nearby seas.

In 2004, Yeongdo Lighthouse was reborn with a new light tower and an outdoor performance hall and exhibition hall, claiming to be a marine culture space with a story. The exhibition room is used as a place to introduce art works for citizens and visitors, and various concerts with citizens are held on the outdoor stage.

# Oryukdo Lighthouse

After the opening of Busan Port in 1876, numerous ships began to pass through the waters off Oryukdo Island, the gateway to Busan.

The Oryukdo Lighthouse, which was built in 1937, has become a symbol of Busan Port along with Oryukdo Island as it is a place where various ships passing through Busan Port, the largest international port in Korea, must pass. The Oryukdo Lighthouse is the first lighthouse in Korea to be built as part of a civil design competition, and is open to the public.
